About
Vienna Blood is a British-Austrian psychological thriller television series set in the 1900s in Vienna, Austria. Based on Frank Tallis’ Liebermann novels, the series follows Max Liebermann (Matthew Beard), a doctor and Sigmund Freud student, as he assists Police Detective Oskar Rheinhardt (Jürgen Maurer). They successfully investigate disturbing murders by providing psychological insights into the subjects’ motivations. The growing anti-Semitism directed at the Liebermann family is a recurring sub-theme.
Release Date
Season 3 of Vienna Blood is on the way, which is fantastic news for fans of the quirky police drama. The new series is already in production, which is very exciting. Season 3 of Vienna Blood will most likely premiere as part of the BBC’s Autumn TV schedule.
Although no start date has been set, we do know that the BBC has acquired the rights to broadcast the series. In comparison, US audiences will most likely be able to watch the series via Prime Video.
The PBS finale of Vienna Blood aired on Sunday, February 13 2022, and sources confirmed the third season on February 22, less than ten days later. The report also stated that the series, which currently airs on ORF in Austria and ZDF in Germany, has already signed deals with PBS and the BBC to air the next season’s episodes. Though no production date has been set, this much faster renewal suggests that the production studio intends to air new episodes in 2023 rather than waiting another two years between seasons.
