Two NYPD cops shot in the Bronx

Two NYPD cops were struck by gunfire in the Bronx on Wednesday night, sources said.

The officers were shot during a struggle with a suspect for a weapon near East 187th Street and Beaumont Ave at around 8 p.m., according to law enforcement sources.

The suspect was also struck by gunfire at some point during the fracas, the sources said.

“I heard shot. Like a lot of shots. I went outside I saw all the cops,” a witness told The Post.

“The response was crazy. From everywhere. I saw a bunch of people next to the pharmacy – after the shots – like fighting or something.”

The officers were shot during a struggle with a suspect.

Police had received a call for a person with a gun near the location, the sources said.

The officers arrived and attempted to disarm the suspect. During a struggle for the weapon, the firearm discharged and struck them both.

One officer received a gunshot wound to the arm. The other officer was shot in the chest. Both were taken to Kings County Hospital where they were listed in stable condition.

The condition of the suspect was not immediately clear.
