MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA)- Several people were injured in a car accident in Midland, Texas. The SKILLS USA State Competition was held in Corpus Christi, TX, from March 31 to April 2, and Midland College Diesel, Automotive, and Energy Technology students competed in a variety of events.
Midland High School students Colin Koonce (first place) and Rhett Pierce (third place) won the gold and bronze medals in the Automotive Suspension and Steering Technical Tests, respectively. At the Diesel Equipment Technology (DEET) competition, Cayden Ruiz of MHS came in second place.
Team Mechatronics students Jayden Villa (Midland High School) and Jayson Watkins (Legacy High School) competed in the competition and won a bronze medal, representing the Energy Technology program (3rd place).
Erick Gutierrez, an MC Automotive/Diesel associate professor, said, “We are so proud of these exceptional students.” Throughout the academic year, they remained committed to their studies and pushed themselves to learn as much as they could. “Congratulations on their victories in these competitions,” they said in a statement.
