As technology advances, machinery and equipment must also evolve and adapt to keep up with the times. An MRI scanner, the MAGNETOM Aera, has been installed at St. Claire Regional Medical Center by St. Claire HealthCare (SCH) in order to improve patient care.
The MAGNETOM Aera will provide our patients and staff with high-quality images that they can trust, making it an excellent choice for medical imaging. Any patient condition or situation will be improved by the new scanner’s MRI processes and reduced staff workload. There will be a 40 percent reduction in exam time thanks to 4G’s increased accuracy and speed.
According to Theresa Hollan RT, RDMS, RVT, SCH Asst, “Technological innovations play a huge role in the way we provide care at St. Claire.” The Director of Diagnostic Imaging In order to provide our patients with the most reliable and accurate results possible, our team will be able to work more efficiently thanks to the high-quality images that our new machine can produce.
Additionally, the MAGNETOM aera is designed to make patients more comfortable during their examination. Thanks to a smaller magnet area, patients will now be able to complete scans without being completely submerged in the machine. Patient comfort is ensured by the machine’s open bore design. In comparison to other MRI scanners, the noise level has been reduced by nearly 70%.
The new machine is expected to be operational at St. Claire Regional Medical Center by the end of April.
According to Hollan, “bringing in this new machine has been a long process with obstacles along the way,” but the change will be well worth the effort.
The entire process of removing the old machine and installing the new one will take eleven weeks. Mobile MRI and PET scans are still available through SCH’s network of facilities.
