A major overhaul of the Your Phone app has been announced by Microsoft, which will now be called Phone Link. More than three years ago, Your Phone was released as a key way to connect an Android phone to Windows and avoid picking up your device to check calls or notifications. A better name for the app, Phone Link, has now been updated to match the new Windows 11 design.
The notification panel has been moved to the top of the screen, and the notifications tab has been permanently anchored to the left-hand side of the screen. A navigation bar at the top of Phone Link has also been added to include messages, photos, apps, and calls. The notifications section has also been streamlined to make it easier to find the important notifications.
The new Phone Link app features a Windows 11-inspired color scheme and design, as well as updated controls, illustrations, and iconography. The Android app Your Phone Companion will be renamed to Link to Windows, and the two apps will use the same icon going forward.
In addition to the new look, Microsoft has partnered with Honor in China to bring Phone Link to the Chinese market. Among the devices now supported by Phone Link are Honor’s Magic 3, 4, and V series, as well as the Magic 3 and 2. Otherwise, the best Phone Link features remain confined to Samsung phones and Microsoft’s Surface Duo devices.
As of today, you can download the latest Phone Link update and enable Phone Link by scanning a QR code during setup in the next Windows 11 update.
