The City of Evansville, Indiana (WFIE) – In the Tri-State area, there is a new piece of breast cancer-fighting technology.
Ascension St. Vincent doctors have developed a novel non-invasive method for detecting breast cancer.
They claim that a rice-grain-sized magnet is used. Instead of using a wire to measure the breast tissue like in an older treatment, this one is placed directly into the breast.
“I got lucky and didn’t end up with cancer,” I said. Being on the other side of things was a humbling experience for me. Oncologist Dr. Sheryl Ziegler explains, “I’m used to being the doctor, the medical oncologist, and not the patient.”
