Symphony Technology Group (STG), a leading Menlo Park-based private equity firm specialising in software, data, and analytics, announced today the launch of Skyhigh Security. For large and small businesses, the new portfolio company was created to meet the growing cloud security needs of the market. When it comes to protecting data, Skyhigh Security takes a different approach than other companies. To meet the needs of today’s workforce, its data-aware Security Service Edge (SSE) is designed to provide security that follows data and users wherever they are.
For the first time in the company’s history, STG has announced that it will split McAfee Enterprise into two separate organisations: Trellix and Skyhigh Security. In addition, STG announced at the time that Gee Rittenhouse, who had previously led Cisco’s cyber security business, would serve as CEO of the SSE business.
According to William Chisholm, managing partner of STG, “Skyhigh Security has emerged as an entirely dedicated cloud security company that is laser-focused on propelling businesses forward with a holistic and converged approach to data security.” The SSE market is one of the most important markets in security, and we’re committed to investing in it.
As Rittenhouse pointed out, “a new approach to security is needed” because so much data is now being stored in the cloud and accessible from anywhere. With unified policies and data awareness, Skyhigh Security has developed a comprehensive security platform to safeguard both data access and data use. Now, organisations are able to gain complete visibility and control over their own security risks, while simultaneously monitoring and mitigating them at a lower cost and with increasing efficiency.
The hybrid workforce has put organizations at a crossroads, according to Frank Dickson, vice president, IDC. As much as the “work from anywhere” model allows for greater adaptability and agility, it can also create new attack surfaces in the cloud by putting a strain on perimeters and endpoints. In order to keep their data safe, these businesses require a top-of-the-class cloud-native solution that makes cloud security implementation simple.
According to Dan Meacham, the chief information security officer at Legendary Entertainment, “We must implement a powerful data-centric defense to meet the needs of how work is conducted today.” Skyhigh Security’s platform approach is fully integrated and simple to use. As a pioneer in the SSE space, they have been working on cloud security for a decade. An analyst’s opinion has been confirmed by customers and users alike. In today’s market, it is truly one of the most reliable and unique SSE solutions.
As a part of the SSE portfolio, Skyhigh Security offers Secure Web Gateway (SWG), CASB, ZTNA, cloud data loss prevention (DLP), remote browser isolation technology, a cloud firewall, and a platform for protecting cloud native applications (CNAP) (CNAPP). The company’s MVISION Unified Cloud Edge (UCE) solution was recently recognised as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic QuadrantTM for Security Service Edge in 2022 and in the 2022 Critical Capabilities for SSE.”
