On Thursday, JK Tyre & Industries announced that it had developed the country’s first four-wheeler tyre puncture guard technology.
Incorporating a self-healing elastomer inner coat into the tyres through an automated process, the technology heals punctures.
The company intends to incorporate the technology into its four-wheeler tyres in the future.
Multiple punctures caused by nails or other sharp objects, up to 6 mm in tread area, can be repaired using this technology, according to a statement from the tyre maker.
Puncture guard tyres provide a worry-free ride for the duration of the tyre’s lifespan, with no air loss.
