Who is Frank Ocean?
Frank Ocean is an American songwriter, singer and rapper born Christopher Francis Ocean. Music critics have praised his work for its introspective, elliptical lyrics. Frank has won two Grammy Awards and a Brit Award for International Male Solo Artist. His two studio albums have been named Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2020).
Before joining Odd Future’s hip-hop collective in 2010, Ocean worked as a ghostwriter. The following year, he released Nostalgia, Ultra, his first mixtape, and signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings. Channel Orange (2012), his first studio album, blended R&B and soul genres. Channel Orange got nominated for Album of the Year. The album won the Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards. “Thinkin Bout You,” one of its singles, was nominated for Record of the Year. The Time selected him as one of the world’s most influential people in 2013.
After a four-year hiatus, Ocean returned in 2016 with the visual album Endless to fulfil contractual obligations with Def Jam. Blonde, Ocean’s second studio album, was self-released the day after Endless. Blonde focused on Ocean’s experimental musical approach and was named the greatest album of the decade by Pitchfork. From 2017 to 2018, Ocean released infrequent songs, worked as a magazine photographer, and started Homer’s fashion label.

Early Life
Frank was born in Long Beach, California, on October 28, 1987. He and his family moved to New Orleans when he was five. After graduating from New Orleans’ John Ehret High School in 2005, Ocean enrolled at the University of New Orleans to study English. However, in August 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. It damaged his house and personal recording studio. This forced him to transfer to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He stayed for a short period before leaving to pursue his music career.
Creation of Homer
On August 8, 2021, Frank Ocean officially launched his first fashion project, “Homer,” which he first announced in a Financial Times interview. Homer was described as “an independent American luxury company founded by Frank Ocean” in a press release Q&A. Frank remarked on Instagram: “This project has kept my head active and my ideas spinning throughout. (…) My ambition is to create something difficult to destroy, to see it in stone. (…) This has been three years in the making, and there is so much I’m happy to share with you, strangers. Love”. The jewellery company, which has previously collaborated with Prada, draws inspiration from “childhood obsessions” and “heritage as a fantasy.”

Ocean debuted Homer last August with a line of printed silk scarves and jewellery. A white-gold necklace with approximately 14,000 diamonds is presently listed for more than $650,000 at the store. Blonde, his most recent album, was released in 2016. He released two new songs in April 2020: “Dear April” and “Cayendo.” He was supposed to headline Coachella 2020. However, when the festival was cancelled, his appearance was pushed back to 2023.
