About
Disenchantment is a Netflix animated satirical fantasy sitcom created by Matt Groening. The series is Groening’s first to be exclusively available on a streaming service; he previously created The Simpsons and Futurama for Fox Broadcasting Company. The show is set in Dreamland, a medieval fantasy kingdom, and follows the story of Bean, a rebellious and alcoholic princess.
Release date
Netflix has not yet renewed the series officially, but with Part 4 completed, we can expect some announcements in the coming months.
Part three released in January 2021, followed by part four in early February 2022, with a year’s gap between each season. If this is the timeline to go by, the show will likely return around the beginning of 2023.

Plot
Bean defeated an evil dream version of herself in Part 4, only to be tossed into the sea by her mother, Dagmar. Mora, Bean’s mermaid love interest, appears to have saved her again. Part five seems to be going deeper into Bean’s relationship with this mysterious fish lady and her ongoing feud with Dagmar.
We can also probably expect to learn more about Bean’s newfound abilities, which were mentioned several times in part four. We saw her magically heal her father Zg’s arm by waving her hand over it in one episode, and in the finale, she learned how to fire lightning from her fingertips. This ability appears to be something she can only do in her dreams, but we have a feeling she’ll soon master it in the real world.
In other news, after successfully honking his way out of the insane asylum, King Zg finds himself on another adventure outside of Dreamland. He’ll almost certainly be on a mission to save Ursula the bear woman,Jasper, Derek, Freckles the talking puppet, and Odval, who were all kidnapped and put on display in a Steamland freak show.
Finally, there’s the enigma of the Elves, Trogs, and Sea Trogs. All three species are, in fact, the same, and Dreamland was once their magical kingdom. Only after the humans took over did the Elves split, with two factions being transformed into Trogs and Sea Trogs after drinking the Sacred Goo – a precious liquid that, at some point, will give power to the “Saviour.”
