ABC has officially canceled Castle. Castle’s eighth season will be it’s final. We don’t know ABC’s plans for the upcoming season, but you never know.
The main reasons for the cancellation were budgetary issues and a budget cut. The network and the ‘Castle’ cast were also feuding, as was evident from Stana Katic and Tamala Jones leaving the show.
Plot
As we have mentioned earlier, Castle Season 9 has been officially canceled. This means that there is no plot for the said season. Richard Castle is a well-known mystery writer. He kills off Derrick Storm, the protagonist in his successful book series, because he is bored of him and suffering from writer’s block. The NYPD summons him for questioning about a copycat murder based on one of his novels, and he meets and becomes intrigued by Kate Beckett (Katic), the detective assigned to the case. Castle is inspired to use Beckett as a model for Nikki Heat, the main character in his subsequent book series, and uses his friendship with the mayor to persuade the cops to let him shadow Beckett. Castle’s exuberant manchild persona contrasts with Beckett’s more reserved and professional demeanor.
However, as Beckett grows to appreciate Castle’s assistance in catching killers, the two become friends and then lovers. Their cases frequently involve murders in unusual subcultures or milieus, such as reality TV shows, vampire enthusiasts, and a man who claims to be a time traveler. A recurring plot line deals with Beckett’s mother’s unsolved murder years before, an investigation that leads to an increasingly sprawling and dangerous conspiracy. Through multiple episodes, the series also focuses on the backstories of supporting characters such as Detective Javier Esposito, Detective Kevin Ryan, Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Captain Roy Montgomery, and Captain Victoria Gates.
