Garth Brooks doesn’t have to define Dallas-Fort Worth. The top-selling solo artist credits North Texas for his hit in country music. His career has travelled four decades since 1989 at Billy Bobs and the Texas State Fair and Texas Stadium in the 1990s.
“Friends in humble places; I didn’t have to sing it. All you have to do is play the first four notes and then observe! That’s the best thing,” laughed Brooks.
“If people tolerate you in Dallas, in country music, you have a chance to have a great career,” Garth said.
Brooks met the media the day before his big concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He says he loves playing in intimate venues, large and small.

“What makes a spot a good place is the individuals in it,” he said.
He tells WFAA it’s the people who make his show. Brooks says he hasn’t sung a single song in nearly 25 years.
“Friends in low places; I didn’t have to sing it. All you have to do is play the first four notes and then watch! That’s the best thing,” he said with a laugh.
Garth is married to another country superstar, Trisha Yearwood, who also has an outstanding career in music while dabbling in acting, hosting baking shows and beginning a pet food brand.

The AT&T Stadium stop is part of his Stadium Tour across the country. He says there is no place like it.

Texas holds a unique place in Brooks’ heart. He says he’s thankful the Oklahoma musician was embraced the way he was.
He says he’ll wait to choose which spot he likes better between Texas Stadium and AT&T Stadium and reserve judgment until he sees how things play out on Saturday.
“Texas Stadium is heading to be tough to beat. For one thing, it was available. The sound will be better if they open the roof. So we’ll see if we can get them to crack it up a little bit.”
DFW displays up as always at Garth’s. After a stop in Houston, it will head overseas to Dublin, Ireland.
